After two runs of the seventh round in Legion Baseball tournament of Nebraska state, this Monday, in Kearney, the Gretna Dragons came out as winners in a match against Pinnacle Bank.
The Dragons had a good start with an early run in the first inning, which earned them lead of 1–0. After that, for the next four rounds, Pinnacle Bank stayed hitless.
First one to record a hit for Pinnacle Bank was Nate Matthews by the end of a sixth, but it triggered two runs out of the offense. In the following inning, Gretna broke the lead of 2–1. The Dragons then made a chain of intermittent walks and singles with fielder’s choice to record two more runs.
In the first third innings of work, Telo Arsiaga hit six out of seven batters and threw for Pinnacle Bank over 100 pitches. Mitch Vernon, the coach of Pinnacle Bank, said Arsiaga had had a good tempo all night and made the game fun for his teammates.
This team is facing Kearney in an elimination game, and Gretna will be playing wit Millard West. Vernon said that the match with Kearney would be a dogfight because their best pitcher is back and that is what Pinnacle Bank is preparing for.
